Enable Madison County Vegetable Garden
Enjoy being outside and working with your hands? The Garden is the place for you! Volunteers work along side the Garden Coordinator to plant, weed, and harvest produce 10 months out of the year. Great for groups, families, and individuals. Please see Garden schedule for days and times to work.
Open Hours
Individuals are welcome to work any time during the open hours – no scheduling or online application is required. Groups should complete a group application before scheduling. Call Susan in the Enable Madison County office with any questions, 256-533-7775.
Weather Policy
We’re out there rain or shine! However, for the safety of our visitors and volunteers, the garden will close during lightning, severe storms, or extreme cold (wind chill below 40°F).
For heat indexes exceeding 100°F, please contact Shawn at 256-797-1939 for updates on garden availability.
For all other inquiries, call the Enable Office at (Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM) and ask for Susan. Please note that staff are not available to take calls on Saturdays.

- Saturdays: 9:30AM - 1:30PM
- Sundays: CLOSED
Keep in Mind
- Ages 13 and older welcome.
- Wear closed-toe shoes.
- Wear sun protection and insect repellant.
- Enable Madison County provides all gardening supplies.
- Leave all valuables in vehicle or safe place.
Location
The Enable Madison County Vegetable Garden is located west of the intersection of Bob Wallace & Jordan Lane.
